Default iPod question

I'm planning on installing the CCA-iPod adapter that plugs into the Clarion port (Not AUX port).

I understand that while plugged in, the iPod controls are disabled and all iPod control is done from the radio or steering wheel.

BUT, does the iPod display still function? If so, I will mount the iPod where it can be seen while playing so that full song data and album art is seen.

If the display doesn't function when connected to the CCA-iPod, guess I'll put the iPod in the glove box.

Thanks-

Karl,

The iPod displays an accessory attached screen, you do not get the normal display

Cheers,

Tim

Thank you for that. So, the iPod goes in the glovebox after all.

Off from my original topic, but I also need to tap into the left and right front speaker leads for high-level subwoofer inputs...I have the color codes but am wondering where the easiest place is to tap off...

I'm thinking at the harness at the radio plug, but if there's a less crowded place (maybe where the harness drops down the side kick-panels before entering the doors?) I would prefer that if anyone here has done that.

Look under the drivers seat for a hole in the carpet at the front. The factory subwoofer plug might be there and it has leads from the rear speakers....

The sub harness is usually taped to the floor harness

Thanks for that suggestion. I was fixated into using the front speakers for the subwoofer high-level inputs, but if the ones from the rear speakers are already under the seat, that's way easier for me.

I will have the driver's seat out anyhow to move the tracks back on a custom bracket (for more leg room as I'm 6'6" tall).

BTW, Tim, also thanks for your email re: the AUX cable that you make. I have decided to go with the Clarion CCA-iPod adapter instead. I've been using the front AUX jack on my new 2010 Crossover for the last three days and the sound is only so-so, and I'm hoping that the digital connection to the Clarion will be better sounding than using the headphone audio-out.

Also, while I have your knowledgeable ear, are there harnesses available for the SX4 speaker (and subwoofer) connectors? It's no biggie for me to splice, but using the factory connectors would look more professional.
