Earlier this year, I have an unfortunate experience with kerb rash.
It causes the wheel to be misaligned and you can hear additional sound when traveling more that 70kmh. As the authorized dealer in my country charges exorbitant fee for it, I decided to try looking for one myself. But I have a hard time finding this particular model. (three weeks) Most of the shops I went to, only hold stocks for '09. They were unable to help further, as they do not know the part number. Luckily there was a shop that took this seriously. They took a picture of the wheel for reference and they informed me they found it the very next day. Sharing this out in case someone is interested in knowing the part number of this new wheel. 43210-54L50-27N ![]() Kerb rash ![]() |

Im pretty sure you could fix that rash - it looks reasonably minor.
Anyway, what was the price difference in the end?

Dealer quoted $550. And I got it at $400.
The wheel was causing the steering wheel to vibrate 60kph. After relocating the wheel to the rear, the car is drivable up to 80kph. Anymore faster, the sound of the tire gets irritating. I guess the correct term is to say that the wheel has warped. Anyone fixed a wraped wheel before? Does it last? |

they end up pretty usable, but never like a new one, and mind you.... wheels are not so round from factory

Are you sure? You might have just thrown a wheel weight. Did you get the rebalanced?

I got a mechanic friend who show it to me in 3 steps. Looks convincing.
1. Lift the car 2. Spin the damaged wheel 3. Look at the spinning wheel from the front/rear of the car And when I placed the wheel on a flat ground, I can still shake it. |

If you are in the east or middle parts of the USA there is Keystone Div of LKQ Corp. They have a great recon wheel program; I had personal experience with them as I used them for a replacement for one of the 17" alloys for my '08 sedan a few months back. BTW they also have similar programs for other body parts.

Thanks. But it is too far out from my location. I will search if my area has any similar services.
If fixed, I could be keeping it in the boot as a spare wheel, instead of the yellow donut. |
