Default Quick Review: Turtle Wax 1-Step Wax & Dry

Hello!

So, I've used this product a couple times now, and decided I'd share with the community. Now, I'll post this with the preamble that 1) While not lazy, I don't desire to put the full effort of claybar, etc into my wax, and that 2) I don't really have much of a place to do said things, so this works well for me after I wash my car at a do-it-yourself joint. Also, please don't shoot me for forgetting to actually take pictures!

The other day while getting some oil change supplies at Advance Auto Parts, I saw this stuff on the shelf and decided to give it a shot. The instructions are pretty simple:
  1. Wash your car
  2. Leave it wet
  3. panel by panel, spray a couple sprits of wax, then dry with soft towel
  4. DONE

I did exactly this, and the shine actually looks really good--on my car, a black SX4 Crossover, it looks really rich, and it's easy to apply, no buffing or anything. I just did it for the second time, this time leaving the car a little wetter than the time before...I think the result was better than the first time, but I'd probably opt to use just a little less water next time.

In summary:

Pros:
  • Stupid easy to use
  • Actually looks really good
  • Inexpensive (I believe it was around $5, claims it'll wax 17 cars)
  • Smells good
  • Did I mention it's easy?

Cons:
  • Obviously not as high-quality as a real paste-wax type job
  • It is a spray, so do be mindful of breeze/etc
  • Requires car to still be wet--if it's warm, you might need to work quickly

Sounds good. And less work than the old green goop Turtle Wax I've used for years.

How did it do on your hood? Mine is also Black the freckle-chips all over it.

It does well on the hood--I filled in my chips with the OEM Suzuki touch-up paint, and with a layer of wax over, they blend in pretty nice.

If you want something even easier and very high quality, try Dri Wash 'n Guard. No washing and it lasts for about a year, but I don't let it go that long. You can use it on glass and it works like Rain-x. You've got to buy it online, but after I tried it, I won't use anything else. BTW, thanks for the review.

Hey man, got a link for the Dri Wash 'n Guard?

I've used the Wax as your Dry stuff before, but not that brand and not on the x-over. I actually have a bottle waiting for my next wash. I think it does a good job between real waxings. I used to live in an apartment complex and everyone always used to borrow my bottle of the Meguiars NTX stuff. This the stuff?

That's the stuff. It's distributed like Amway. There are lots of websites. I haven't tried the latest formula. I've got about 3 or 4 more applications left of the old formula. The best results are with at least 2 applications. Really easy, great shine, hard surface, and lasts forever. You don't need wax. This lasts longer and repels crap better.

Throw on a second coat in the next few days. It'll appear deeper and glossier. At least that's been my experience.

You know were I'm going to go....

Quote:
1) While not lazy, I don't desire to put the full effort of claybar, etc into my wax,

Claybar, God sent piece of mud that will take all contaminants out of your paint making it easier to wash, wax and maintain, and do it once a year and takes about 1hr of your time.

Quote:
2) I don't really have much of a place to do said things
See the picture on my avatar? That is the place I do mine, wash, wax, paint, clay, mechanics, everything. No garage baby here... So no excuse.

OK done with that. The product you used is pretty good! I haved used it a couple of times on the wife's car. I like Meguiars products a little more. They have the Quick series that I use a lot, the Wax can be used like the Turttle Wax, and they have a Detailer that you can use to "wash" the car between washes. Takes water marks out etc...

And that Dri-Wash stuff is good if your car is not dirty, kinda like a Quick Wax-Detailer together. There are a lot of threads at Autopia.

QEW, kinda like the same but a much better product
http://www.autopia.org/forum/detaili...-part-1-a.html

There are some OK reviews, but most people post to NOT use it on a dirty car, and that the durability is over hyped, the one guy that liked the product said that his Integra lost the shine after 2 rains.
