I have the first one, works great.
Exdaix, et. al.:

Is the "monstercable" approach my only option if I want to use a San Disk Fuze MP3 player in my '07 SX4 X-over? The car has a proprietary ipod dongle in the glove box that won't work with my Fuze.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a conversion dongle that would allow me to connect the Fuze via tht ipod dongle?

Thanks,

i dont know where exactly you're located but most walmarts, radio shacks, or any other general electronics store would sell a connector. if you have absolutely no use for the iPod connector, you could always take that hookup out and get the Aux cable from Tim.

LMS,

Thanks for the feedback. Ideally I'd like to connect the Fuze MP3 player via the iPod dongle but that'll require some sort of adaptor between the iPod and the Fuze.

Do you have a link per "... Aux cable from Tim"? And if I do anything other than the dongle adaptor approach where do I plug the alternative cable in? For example, I noticed on the "monstercable" that it appeared to have two RCA male jacks. Does the OEM sound system have corresponding female ports?

Thanks in advance for any considered input.

not a problem, troy.

you could probably even find the adapter on ebay or something. it would likely be cheaper than trying to get something from Apple or BestBuy or something. walmart tends to be hit or miss when you're trying to find stuff like that.

if you decide to go with just the aux cable rather than the adapater, the guy you need to contact is Tim McCabe. that's his screen name on here. just PM and let him know that you need an AUX cable and he can answer any specific questions that you have.

the basic AUX cable is just one hook up. at one end is the connector that plugs into the back of the radio and at the other end there's a male headphone jack. i guess that if you have the built in navi, there might be 2 "radio-end" hook ups, but i'm not sure exactly.

again, tim can answer any questions that you have. just remember to be patient as some people have lives outside of the forum. lol

Thanks for the tip. I'll drop Tim a line with my questions.

There is a product from a 2009 sx4 genuine accessories pamphlet.
It shows a couple of options for ipod and mp3 interface and is applicable to years 2007-2009
I chose the mp3 because of it's universal application and is less proprietary than the ipod only option.
FM trasmitters are a poor option in my opinion!
I scanned the page and wanted to attach it to this post but the option does not seem to exist for me.

The product # for the aux. audio input adaptor is 99980-auxil 2007-2009

good - luck

peace
